It is used for the detection of amyloid on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections with amyloidosis, and may be used for frozen sections as well.
Application: Stain for amyloid deposits in tissues. Suitable for paraffin sections fixed in 10% formalin. Amyloid deposits are formed in tissues spontaneously or in association with a wide range of diseases. In cases of suspected amyloidosis, thick sections at 12 μm may be beneficial in demonstrating minute deposits of amyloid.
