To show and differentiate acid mucopolysaccharides in tissue sections.
Application: Alcian blue and PAS reactions can be combined to demonstrate both neutral and acid mucins in tissue sections. Alcian Blue pH 1 – PAS kit is highly acidic and is used to distinguish weakly and strongly sulfated acid mucopolysaccharides (sulfomucins) from neutral mucins in paraffin tissue sections.
N.B!: The clinical interpretation of any staining, or its absence, should be complemented by morphological studies and proper controls, and should be evaluated within the context of the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist. All reagents have been optimally prepared for use and require no mixing or diluting.
