Bennhold’s Congo Red for Amyloid.
Application: Stain for amyloid deposits in tissues. Suitable for paraffin sections fixed in 10% formalin. Amyloid deposits are formed in tissues spontaneously or in association with a wide range of diseases. In cases of suspected amyloidosis, thick sections at 12 μm may be beneficial in demonstrating minute deposits of amyloid.
N.B!: The clinical interpretation of any staining, or its absence, should be complemented by morphological studies and proper controls, and should be evaluated within the context of the patient’ s clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist. All reagents have been optimally prepared for use and require no mixing or diluting.
