Bacteriological stain used to identify acid-fast organisms, mainly Mycobacteria.
Application: Microscopic examination of Mycobacteria. Higher concentration of basic fuchsine and phenol in Kenyon’s carbol fuchsine solution helps penetration of Mycobacteria’s cell wall and removes the need for pre-heating the slides.
